Introductory Cave Diver

The Introductory Cave Diver Course is the second step in the Cave Diver training progression. To take this course, the student must have already successfully completed the Cavern Diver course. In this course, the student will plan and conduct dives in underwater caves beyond the daylight or cavern zone. The student will carry and use fully redundant equipment (2 regulators, long hose, dual outlet valves, 3 lights, primary and safety line reels) since the course dives will be completely within the overhead environment.

This course covers basic cave diving equipment, gear configuration and streamlining, trim and buoyancy control, lessons learned from accident analysis, detailed gas planning, line protocols, advanced propulsion techniques for silt avoidance, and emergency procedures. Penetration dives will be limited to 1/3 the gas volume of a single cylinder or 1/6 the gas volume of doubles.

The course will include classroom sessions held at the shop followed by training dives (minimum of 4) conducted in the world-class cave systems of north Florida's cave country.

If you are a Cavern Diver who yearns to see what's around that next bend, then this course is where you begin to find out.

Minimum Equipment: All equipment required for cavern, single tank with dual orifice, primary reel with 400' of guideline, safety reel, additional first stage with a seven foot hose, line markers, clothes pins and an additional light for a total of three.
